About this place
Located on the slopes of Odaesan in Gangwon Province, this botanical garden lets visitors see rare plants, including endangered species and plants native only to Korea. It was converted from a privately run garden into a national one in 2021, and is a place to enjoy the changing beauty of native flowers and trees through the seasons.

국립한국자생식물원은 백두대간 중심 오대산 자락에 있는 곳으로 멸종위기 식물을 비롯하여 쉽게 찾아보기 어려운 희귀식물과 한국 고유의 특산식물을 만나볼 수 있는 식물원이다. 민간이 운영하던 한국자생식물원은 2021년 산림청에 기부되어 국립한국자생식물원으로 전환되었다. 자생식물을 지켜온 기부자의 뜻을 이어받아 대한민국 자생식물의 수집과 발전을 위해 최선을 다하고 있다. 계절에 따라 다르게 피어나는 우리 꽃과 나무의 아름다움을 즐길 수 있으며, 자생식물을 중요성과 가치를 느낄 수 있는 곳이다.
