Privacy Policy

This page explains what data this site collects, why, and what choices you have.

Last updated

This page is published in English only, so that its wording is the wording the operator has reviewed.

What this site collects

This site does not require an account and does not ask you to submit personal information. We do not collect names, email addresses or payment details.

Our servers keep standard technical logs of requests — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time of the request. These are used to operate the service, diagnose faults and detect abuse.

Location

The “near me” feature asks your browser for your location. Your browser will prompt you before sharing anything, and declining leaves the rest of the site fully usable.

When you allow it, your coordinates are sent to our server so we can query the Korea Tourism Organization for nearby places. Coordinates are used to answer that single request. They are not stored against any profile and are not sold or shared with third parties.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and move through it — which pages are read, which regions and festivals are searched for, and which languages are in use. We look at this in aggregate to decide what to publish next.

Google Analytics sets cookies and records your IP address, approximate location, device and browser, and the pages you view. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not combine it with any other data about you.

You can opt out entirely by installing Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. The site works normally either way.

Cookies and advertising

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Where required by law, advertising cookies are set only after you consent, and you can change that choice at any time through your browser settings.

Third-party services we use

Korea Tourism Organization (TourAPI). Tourism records, images and event information come from this public open data service. Your browsing is not reported back to them; we query the API from our own servers.

OpenAI. Translation and summarisation of tourism records is performed by OpenAI models. The text sent is the Korean source material from TourAPI, plus your search phrase when you use the search box. No identifying information about you is included.

Google Analytics. Aggregate traffic measurement, subject to the analytics disclosure above.

Google AdSense. Advertising, subject to the cookie disclosure above.

Data retention

Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for operations and security, and are deleted on a rolling basis. Translated tourism content is cached indefinitely, but that cache contains only public tourism data — nothing about you.

Children

This site is a general-audience travel resource and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not operate accounts, in most cases we hold no data that identifies you. If you believe we do, contact us and we will look into it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continued use of the site after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
